ZanZarah: The Hidden Portal

ZanZarah: The Hidden Portal

ZanZarah Remaster or sequel
I would love to see ether a ZanZarah remaster or even a sequel does anyone know how to go about making this happen I have tried emailing every company involved with ZanZarah for years but I have yet to get anywhere this game is so underrated and has so much potential it sucks to see such a great game and concept go to waste

Most likely it's just costly. They would have made a remaster but for decent money

There is a Global Mod for Zanzarah. It changes textures, adds new fairies, adds Bosses, changes balance etc.

A "global mod" seems not to exist. At least not in english or german language.
I found some russian entries (also on Youtube) describing a reshade mod. As either I don't speak or understand russian I have no intention to use it but it looks intersting and working.

I heard Pokemon Sword and Shield is out. In seriousness though the game was made so long ago I think the studio moved on long ago.

If you want the game to get some more recognition though, because lets face it, this game is pretty obscure you can email some game reviewers that like doing obscure and idie games and maybe the game will get some sort of revival.

It is getting a big update by a team of modders has been in the works for years and it looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredible but it is still years away from release and I honestly think once that finally drops the game or at least the genre will get renewed I like pokemon I really do but all the child friendly everyone wants to be friends peace love BS just drives me up a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wall and it's always the same re hash story thats why I loved Zanzarah it had more of a mature theme and with todays tech so much could be done with this genre in general I don't get how you can see the pokmeon world wide success and not even attempt to break into that genre aside from nintendo the rest of the market is free game with zero rivals in the genre

If we're talking about "Zanzarah by JW", that's not a reshade but a total remake on an Unreal-based custom engine. It seems that you can use ReShade[reshade.me] with Zanzarah tho'.

The companies that made Zanzarahe either went Bankrupt or are not interested anymore.
From what I know, there are Russians that are working on a Remaster, but a Sequel's 100% impossible as of now. (Remaster: https://vk.com/zanzarah_by_jw)

So why can't we reach out to whoever owns the IP and just buy it? Something thrown away and forgotten can't be too expensive and a crowdfund alongside the JW mod might get this into the hands of people who deserve it?

Even if someone buys it, what will they do with it? It's quite the risk.
However, it does seem to be the best option for the franchise. Overall, what matters is *who* buys it.

The original german company ("funatics") went bankrupt.

Yes, it's a high risk. This weird combination of game elements confuses most audience.
On first look, Zanzarah looks like an action adventure, which it is definitely NOT.
A re-work of the gameplay would be necessary although I liked the combination.

If the elements get reworked however, it'll be a different game. Therefore, the old fans won't like it. Which is also a problem for games that need a sequel.

i would think it has fallen in the same place as games like legend of the dragoon or dragon seeds its something that they dont think would have enough of a payout i mean i remember finding Zanzarah when i was a kid in a dollar general for like 5 dollars so they might be worried that it would fall back to no profit

AFAIK Zanzarah's previous concept was aiming at a mature audience. Though that didn't work commercially, they changed the gameplay and audience. BIG MISTAKE.

Sorry to jump into this 5 years later haha, not meaning to necro a thread, but the Global Mod is now up to V4 and is available in English.

Just google "Zanzarah Global Mod" to find it.
It adds like 70+ new fairies and makes the game harder with many more roaming NPCs, the game becomes super tactical.

I got wiped out about 6/7 times before leaving the fairy garden (The first map) as someone who has finished the base game multiple times.
