MDK
Beat the game, reading the wiki, my thoughts on MDK1
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MDK

So reading the wiki it seems like the creators of mdk really were trying to make something innovative and different. I think the one area they fell short, after beating it, was the length and replay. It actually was a fun game, more fun than I thought it would be. But its short, very short, and unlike turok2 6 levels don't really work if they are extremely easy and brief.

There's not much in the way of confusing puzzles, secrets, or complexities. The most complex areas of the game are figuring out how to beat bosses and enemy swarms.

Now I'm playing mdk2 and its ok, but it feels kinda like any old 3d platformer from the ps2 era. Not saying 2 is bad either, just that I haven't got to far and I kinda like 1's oldschool feel more. 1 has some odd gameplay that is hard to describe but is extremely infectious. I really didn't expect to play it through the way I did and not get bored or take a break. Most games like this I'll play for a little while, put it down, come back to it later etc.
But mdk held my attention for a week and I beat it in no time, felt very short and left me wanting more out of it. That's actually pretty good especially for a game this old, but I can't really explain the appeal in it, its a jank as hell game with some weird gameplay, and sections that seem... Well anyone can nitpick a 1997 game, but doing so would be ignoring the actual good points and how the game actually held my attention better than some new games.

But reaching the end, it just kinda ends, and there's really nothing to do besides up the skill. And with no unlocks, secrets, or established "things" I don't really see a reason to replay it again, least not anytime soon. But its one of those games that feels like it could benefit from being something more. Maybe with some secrets to find like doom, or maybe extra levels, extra modes, co-op? A remaster with all these additions would be great.

And reading the wiki, the main point of criticism with this game was that it was short. Even back then, so what I'm thinking is, why not fix that? Why not remaster this game and fix what was always criticized about it? Add more, more content, more modes, more secrets, more unlocks. Seems like a revival with a 3rd one would also be a great way to revive interest in this series.

Anyway finished the first one, was actually better than I expected.
