I want to get better at this game and I'm not...
Seriously, I want to get better at poker in general, but I keep losing over the most ridiculous, smallest details, it's bullsh*t. When I have a three of a kind on the straight, someone finishes with a straight. When I have a full-house, someone wins it with a kicker. I don't claim to be a good poker player, but ***dammit, it's almost like the game is forcing me to lose. So I'd like to ask for help and I want to know what am I doing wrong in this game? I'm losing my patience. It's like I can never win.

One last thing (after that I promise I'll stop). Your betting pattern is also important. Check, call, bet, check/call, check/raise, continuation bet, probe bet, blocking bet, value bet, etc.

You need to vary your bets so asn't to be too predictable. You must also adapt your bets according to the pot (1/3, 1/2, 3/4, etc), your hand, the board, the context and especially not overplay your hands too frequently.

You need also try to understand the view that other players may have on you at the table. For example, if you lost the previous move on a bluff players will believe less in your bets. So, unless you have a bomb in hand, you need calm down (or vice versa).

Good luck... cheers...

how do you have a lower kicker with a boat .. low stakes cash games are horrible beacuse they have nothing to lose. try tournaments or 200k+ games

He likely means lower boat. Goes all in with Q6 board Q636K and loses to K6. ♥♥♥♥ happens, i lose bad beat full house when i got flush regularly. Poker is a load of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the short term.

Recommending him to play high stakes (which he likely doesnt have chips for anyway) is pointless because bad beats happen at every stake.

Exactly, but at low stake you have more fishes and more you have fishes more you risk a bad beat.

In fact, at low / medium stakes, for good bankroll management, you have to 20/30 buy ins min in reserve (30/40 for high stakes). If you have a bad rush and lose several buy ins, don't hesitate to play at a lower limit while you recover (mainly don't increase the stake to try to compensate your losses).

Poker is a game of profitability in the medium / long term, I know sometime it's difficult but, you must be patient. The important isn't how much you win/lose during one session but how much you win/lose at the end of the month/year.

I don't know your play level but, technically, try to work your position in play, the odds and the equity (you have a lot of articles on this subject on the internet). And especially observe your opponents playing style well before taking too much risk.

Good luck... cheers...

* I forgot 2 things :

- in cash games, if you aren't feeling well at a table, change tables.
- if a player as a good rush, don't obstinate. Wait, his rush will necessarily stop at some point

So here's what's happened with me. Start playing 2 weeks ago, move up quickly playing 10-20k Casual Games and now that I have about 450k saved in my account, I'm having terrible hands and losing more than winning. Seems like once you reach around level 25 you start having a losing streak to lower level players, just like what I experienced when I was lower level and higher level players were losing to me. Anyone else experiencing the same situation?

I just reached past level 50 and i still get heaters from time to time. Sometimes you have a couple of dead sessions, maybe some coolers like getting your house beaten by quads, but heaters will come back to rake in huge pots.

I've seen new players get some super good hands, but eventually i'd get a better hand and manage to bust them because they feel invincible and think they can't lose a pot.

Plus, i've seen plenty of new players level 1-10 get beaten with hands from people level 10-20 as well
