What the Muck is up with Mucking?
I genuinely want to know if I'm making a faux pas, especially at 50k+ tables.

As I see it, with Mucking you can:

1. Reveal both cards. Show that you were bluffing- or prove that you were not.

2. Reveal one card. A lot of mind games here. This one seems to irritate people the most...

3. Show no cards. Generally the safest/smartest choice. The default.

So whats the dealio? When is mucking "ok", and when is it "not ok"? Is it just personal preference?

I've never played a poker game that lets you muck, so its new to me and I'm sure to many other players as well.

But I feel like people leave the table immediately after a hand that I mucked, too often to feel coincedental.

Can y'all vet players provide some clarity here for the tourists? If we can develop a more stable sense of etiquette on this game, it will be beneficial to noobs and pros alike.

dont worry poss best not to show but doesnt matter either way , they have the description wrong anyway , to muck your hand is to discard without showing period

etiquette?....I play to knock ppl out....to win, to revel in your demise!!! I don't care how anyone else plays. I don't care how anyone else feels about it. I'm not here to play PC poker. I will use everything at my disposal (short of cheating) to get the edge. If that means someone doesn't like it and can't handle it...too bad, they can adapt or play at another table. I play with anyone and everyone. Even the occassional wasted trolling emoter doesn't bother me, or the all in every hand, or the sleeper (or all 3 in 1). I don't mind takin yer money slim.

To me, etiquette would be something like buying a round for your friends, returning a refill if/when you can. Or everyone paying the BB as the opening ante. Even among close friends, I trust none of them at the table. Also, other players will get a clairvoyance bonus if the winner shows their hand, so it's not like you don't get rewarded for just playing.

And Imo, letting your timer completely run out after every turn to allow the other player time to "think" about what to do IS NOT ETIQUETTE, it's just annoying.

I second this completly well put +1♔

Thanks for the reply @HornofCopi. "I'm not here to play PC poker." I think that sums it up pretty well

I also have that same mentality of using every tool available to win. If I feel that showing 1 or 2 cards is advantageous, then I'll do it. But if someone does it to me I don't mind because it's a level playing field.

Would depend on the circumstances i suppose, if you are playing casually with friends or its a
shuffle to the death with your deadliest poker enemy.

Generally speaking tho, use everything to your advantage always. If you discover that running time down really unsettles your opponent; you would be a fool not to utilise that to your advantage. Same goes for mucking.

Psychology goes both ways tho so be carefull :csgoanarchist:

Did they remove the mucking event?.

Being slow in this game is annoying but not a tactic btw. Playing on your 56k modem/wifi/old laptop is slow enough. Just play yawn and it is a domino effect if you play slow everyone does.

Showing one or both cards is optional. I've seen people show one card in live poker, either because they're buddies with the guy at the table or they think they're going to screw with your head. Most people I know don't do it, and I don't do it. But it's in the rules, and since this game is trying to more closely simulate live poker, it makes sense.

However, keep an eye out for players disconnecting while in game. You can win easy points and chips if you get one in 1on1. I won H2H last night like that...his avatar was there...but nobody home (+no player stats). Just be careful they don't come back right when you're all in with NUTHIN!

why go all in vs afk player when a minumum bet will get a fold?
Showing 1 card that doesnt revel the hand u had is often good, gets them thinking about your hand and not about their strategy.

or showing a card to revel part of your hand (show 1 pair when u had trips or two pair) Or show the nuts and make them think u never bluff type thing..

All these are good, but never showing anything revels nothing, good too.

Showing one card is ridicilous, i just ignore such laydowns. If i want to show a bluff, i show it, if not, then not. One card is like "oh here look look, i bluffed" but they never did. Its just ridicilous.

I tend to show one card quite often tbh I like to get every bit of rep even at max rank still lol?
without showing people what I have completely whether it were a good hand or bluff. That or im just showing my low kicker for no real reason. It is just a habit now I guess.

Most of the time I never show anything however.

Lol, this post showing your frustration with it only proves the worth of doing it.

Especially when you can do it without actually reveling anything but leading them to think something else.
