He is just a normal citizen, he only attacks you because people around ere are racist/spiciest against worms and he is engaged in a shady activity. Worms are a species, the one you meet in the City and the one who is chilling in Eva's garden are two different people.
Town survives harvesting beef and beef accessories -> worms are the only who are qualified to take care of bulls fully -> no worms = no bulls = no money/food = town ded.
Besides, worms are the only one who can take care of twyr herbs, who can nourish them and cut/process them without making them poisonious -> twyr is the vital part of only type of medicine effective against the plague -> no worms = no medicine = town ded.

Honestly, I'd just rather you avoid spoilers or use spoiler tags. 90% of the joy of this game is finding out/figuring out everything on your own.

Thank You Sarah. You are smart indeed, to have really made it so far as even Day Two. My strategy this time around was to toss Day One into the abbitoir and begin again. A critical foulup on my part was a decision, before heading to the town Center and thus the fateful Downer Lady ''Midnight'' warning, earlier in the afternoon between 2 and 4, of taking a brief nap of two hours in order to test the dynamics of sleep on my abiity to reduce exhaustion.
Those two hours, ended up costing me my life. I return to town again, a little wiser...
