Demand is justified on the lowest productionprice at that time.
Underproduction - higher profits. high production Cost - higer profits. expensive wares - higher profits. higher Quality - more Demand to your ware and not rival.
Do not Research any of productioncost minimiser: Productline, wage, transportcost (exept you have a competitive rival in business)
Best Products to make money are:
Software: OS
Video: Consoles
Car: Cars (most profitable)
Pharma: Prothesis, Organs
Steampunkt: Transportation
generally all pricy wares with high demand
or do it that style: http://steamcommunity.com/app/384080/discussions/0/133257324791478872/
Sell less items for higher prices. When you build up a large stock of all your unsold items. Shutdown your resource and product lines and get pure profit selling your last items. It's always a huge waste selling your excess finished products in the global market.
Meanwhile, research at least the line cost reduction which will reduce your production costs. Don't forget you have to actually upgrade the building with the line cost reduction when the research is done.
Don't worry so much about money in the beginning. I started biochem selling influenza cures for about +/- 5k/month. Once I researched kidney, I jumped up to about +130k. Then eventually +300k when I added lungs.
I also started out immediately with 48 researchers.
at the current point i am always in the red, no matter what i do. ive tried all different combinations of production and advertising, ive reduced all costs and salaries and production line increases, everything. ive tried all the simple industries.
and i simply cannot get profits going. i dont get it. ive tried lowering prices to increase demand. ive tried increasing prices by small to large amounts, and no matter what cannot get green. maybe green briefly, but not much and not for long.
i am generally averaging probabling -15k a day. i can sometimes get it to like -1k a day and thats with alot of micro managing and really adjusting everything just right. and best case scenerio i'll see like 5-20k in the green, but it will only last a few days and just degreades back down into the negatives.
ive been at it for 3 days now trying out many different starts and strategies and industries and i cannot get a profit going for any significant amount of time.
i seriously think something is off. never had this amount of difficulty before.
you do it wrong. you don't get profits if you do massproduce.
Demand in this game is set by the current lowest production price for a defined quality:
100 demand by 10 production price, 5 production price the same 100 demand.
but to sell 100 you can sell them for say +10% (100*10*1,1= 1100 >= 100*5*1,1 = 550)
if you calc the fix cost(workers scientist, buildings) then you will lose money with 5 production.
the problem with 1 day red another day green is because of storage (not enough sold)
so not lower costs, only increase quality.
Go for virtuall Shortage like 100demand, produce/sell only 50 but by +50% (50*10*1,5= 750) so you can make 50 other items to make another 750 or so
and another thing 10% of 2€ is less then 10% of 10000€ (2,2€ vs 11000€), you will need to sell 5000 2€ items to get 1x profit of a 10.000€ item which likely will require less buildings/workers
20 quality vs 100 quality is worth. also the more resources the area has, the more production per worker (which you will need if you have a competitor)
selling something from the trade market which isn't produced gives the best profit (because of the high price which result in high production price which result by the same demand higher absolut profits)
cheat like:
if you research automotive and selling 10 of each of the 5 expensive one (from the trade market) then you get around 1M per day
