Why a continual INCREASE in price?
It has really put me of f the game.. the current supposed 50% sale price is more expensive than the previous regular price. Is the developer taking the piss? I have never seen this before. I look at the price graph and all it has done is increase over a couple years.. has some huge amount of content or something been added for this to happen or is the developer just doing reverse sales to be "unique" ? :steamfacepalm:

It increased to thirty bucks a long time ago with the definitive edition update. And what's so bad with paying 30 bucks for a fleshed out fighting game?

yeah this is an issue of not keeping up with things. the game used to be $15 with sales going down to $7.50. in fall 2020 they doubled the price while adding the dlc fighters to the base game as well as adding content. the dlc fighters are no longer available for purchase.

Even though it's worth it to me because I only bought it for mods anyway, I don't really see why they couldn't have just sold it with & without the DLC & left up the option to buy the DLC. Having to pay all that extra money for the extra content would suck if you didn't even want most of it.

instead of paying more money for more characters you're paying more money for more content and the characters come with it plus we're getting 4 more for free soon

That doesn't matter to people who aren't interested in the new content though. That's why most games either get free updates or sell new content as DLC.

If Smash Ultimate added its DLC characters automatically & new customers were charged more money to buy the game, a lot of people would understandably be angry considering a lot of the DLC characters are pretty divisive & some people don't even want 'em for free because they consider the game better without them.

It's just a good thing for me that I consider the mod content so good that I don't really care one way or the other as long as the mod characters who are being added as official content don't get ruined in the official version & then altered on the workshop to match that version.

Regardless, the price is well worth it for me as long as they don't make any radical changes that mess up all the workshop content, which probably isn't gonna happen since this game wasn't made by Valve or Bethesda.

Thanks D YellowMadness.. this is what I was trying to say.. You put it perfectly.
I won't be buying, when others have had it for $5, I am not going to pay so much more than that. By the way, I am in Australia, so the prices are always higher.

Games should charge what they’re worth. Rivals should be $60, the new Battlefield should cost $0.99.

Support smaller devs that make quality stuff instead seething because somebody else got it cheaper than you did.

Agreed, it's still a smaller price than a major studio release and provides plenty of content and playability.

I guess that's why we all have opinions.
Although I am considering it because my original issue was the continual increase in price without knowing what I was getting, and since it's been confirmed all DLC is included now then it DOES help rebalance my opinion. BTW I was not talking about people getting things cheap on sales, heck I do that myself, but the actual non sale price continually going up, and as I said I haven't seen that before and it was off putting to ME.
One thing is that it's clear there are always people online according to the store page stats, so.. that might be a game I can practise at and actually FIND people playing online.

Final two questions before purchase..
Are the servers decent, lag wise?
Also, is there any offline bot mode to practise? If it's one of those games that you have to play against other people at all times then that's probably not for me, as it's established with a community of hardcore players already and I'd just get slaughtered all the time.

Bought it.. I saw there's an offline story to learn the game. I should have googled before asking lol. Secondly, I will test the servers for myself in a bit! Wow just a 300mb download. Tiny!
Edit, just 186mb actual download, 300 SSD space. It was done in seconds as I typed the message. Trying now...

I haven't tried online yet as still practising.
My end is good, 750/50 with a 7ms wireless ping. We'll see how I go!

I don't know guys and gals. I spent half hour learning the basics, it's a bit OTT with all the nuances IMO.. but I still wanted to test online. 700 online at the time I tried, and I waited 15 and gave up. Obviously no one wants to play a casual match with a noob. I am sure ranked would have been easy. This is what I feared would happen. I think I'll just return it. I hated the default controls, I changed everything, jump on A, attack on X etc.
