Bad Character Tutorial
I've never completed the tutorial to this game and since Early Access is about testing a game, I decided to run through it. I ran into some immediate problems. These problems were in the characters tutorials (the game mechanics part were great).

I noticed that Zetterburn's tutorial quickly shows you how to use his obvious moves and then goes into some of his combos. This is great because it gives players a great headstart on how to use this character. Etalus's was the same. His actually showed a huge part of his gameplay even to higher level players.

Now lets go on to some that weren't as good. Kragg's was easily the worst. It showed his special moves and then some basic properties of his moves... the end. Cool... Honeslty this wasn't even needed. Anyone could figure out what this tutuorial shows in a short time playing Kragg. Some other characters yet again really only show how to work the character's abilities and ended there. They don't actually show how to use the character in a match.

With the current tutorial, It encourages players to learn some characters instead of others due to the reasons listed above.

Currently the Character Tutorial isn't very good but will we see improvement some day closer to release to help newer players get into the game?

honestly the etalus tutorial isn't even that good considering it doesn't force you to tech chase dair 19 times in a row, plus it doesn't show you "a huge part of his gameplay" in the slightest. it shows you the mechanics of a couple of his attacks, and they have a lot of mechanics. that's it. it leaves everything that should be there out, too. all of his aerials should be covered as they all have a purpose, but they aren't. what exactly do you mean when you say the kragg tutorial is any worse? the way you described it describes the etalus tutorial perfectly. the zetter tutorial is the same thing, it shows you moves, basic mechanics, and one extremely basic combo, which is exactly what the kragg tutorial does. that's what the tutorials are for, anyway, right? can you not admit that?
the orcane tutorial shows you a couple moves, no combos, but a mechanic of the game no one uses at low level, plus a recovery mechanic that once again no one uses at low level. is that ending at his abilities? they're supposed to end at his abilities, ones like orcane's don't, but that's not to say it's insanely better than all of the other ones and this ♥♥♥♥ should be fixed either because people don't go to character specific tutorials for any "techniques" anyway.
maypul's tutorial covers a combo i have never seen someone do on purpose right after a lot of the mechanics of both the character and her moves. is that stopping at her abilities when it almost ends with reverse side b > up tilt? a couple of them, including maypul, cover how much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ height you can gain off of boosting with a double jump and an aerial alone too, which is pretty much required for a good recovery game for maypul in particular as well as a way to make attacks more useful just in general, but it's not a character's ability. for the ones that do just go over moves and only moves, that's either because it's not a technical character in the slightest or they're actually making the tutorial what the tutorial for a character is supposed to be in RoA

tl;dr most of that is wrong and character specific tutorials are not designed for teaching you tech

Never have I ever seen anyone rip a tutorial to pieces like this.

It's actually quite facinating.

As for my opinion, they seem ok.

This isn't "how to win everything and combo like Mang0"

I'm not really trying to rip it apart as much as I'm trying to bring something to light. This game is tough to learn or at least way more so than smash. The tutorial in this game is a great way to learn how to play decently fast. You're right how its not all about learning combos to win but some characters tutorials are good telling the player some special movement proterties and some easy simple combos but some are "here is what this button does"... lol

I just hink that this games tutorial is pretty good and I think that it could help newer players get into the game easier if all the character tutorials were good.
