Can you play with mods in 4 player multiplayer? (With friends)

If you're talking about using custom characters online with friends, i don't know if the online mode supports custom characters, but you could use a program called parsec to stream your computer so all your friends can just play online through the local multiplayer mode. I always use parsec to play with my friends with custom characters and it works fine (most of the time).

from what I ve seen in casual, you can play custom characters so long you are queuing/creating a game that allows workshop characters. I believe its in the match rules

I have a follow up question, if you don't mind.

If you join with people who have a custom character, will the workshop auto-download the character for you? Or do you need to quit the game, and go download it?

Another workshop oriented game I play, Killing Floor 1, will auto-download workshop items if you join a server with them on. So I was wondering if it was like this here, or if it would completely disrupt your play session

Sadly, u need to restart ur game
if u are both downloading the same character, it'll be easier if u just make a collection, or find one with the characters u want
otherwise, happy downloading and searching through the steam workshop pages! lol
