Rivals of Aether
PS3 Controller setup
Hey, I'd like some help on setting up the buttons on my PS3 controller. Other than the D-Pad for movement, how should I map? I'm having trouble finding something that's comfy.

I used a Dualshock 4 for a while, so I suggest you use X for jump, Square for attack, Circle for Special, and one of the analog sticks for smash attacks

And R1 for dodge?

I don't want be the guy to tell you to spend more money, but in my experience, the Mayflash gamecube adapters with a Gamecube controller is the best way to go. Coming the POV of a competitive Smash player, games like this were practically made to be played with the GC controller

I know, Smash with GC is best, so this is probably no exception, however I don't plan on spending many times the cost of the game in order to make it easier to play. I mean if people can play this on keyboard I think i'll be alright with a PS3 controller.

Yes .... i have made the same experience with the MAYFLASH Adapter & PS3 controllers.
I use the MAYFLASH PS3 ADAPTER and it works perfect. The PS3 controller will be noticed as X-INPUT (as x-box controller) & you do not have to map anything. And yes the analogstick of the PS3 controller is allready maped perfect as analogstick of the x-box controller.
I use 2 adapters on 1 PC for couchplay - this also works fine as you have to pair (only first time) each adapter with each controller.

Kind regardz

I'm not sure what you mean. I just use an USB cable for my ps3 controller.

Ok .. i see .... as you can change controlls in the game-menu you do not need a bluetooth-adapter.
But let me tell you this: It is very nice to play on the couch without using a cable anymore ;)

Have a nice day & have fun playing ROA Bro

Yeah Bro ... & if you do it like this the ps3 controller don´t uses x-input (windows) ... and in most cases that means you have to use another app to remap all buttons & you have to use a cable.
I talk about the "MAYFLASH PS3 BLUETOOTH-ADAPTER" (Just type this in amazon - and you should find it). With this nice piece of hardware you are able to use your PS3-controller without you have to remap any keys & without you have to use a cable anymore (after pairing it with acable the first time you use the adapter).
All keys are automatically mapped the same like the x-box controllers.

In Rivals of Aether this means the game automatically assigns:
X for jump,
Square for attack,
Circle for Special,
and the right analog stick for smash attacks

Have a nice day
I use a program called SCP and it does the same thing, as in that it maps the controller like an xbox controller (i think, i dont really remember what it was like before I changed the mapping), however I just didn't find this setup too comfy. I don't mind using a cable as I'm using laptop and my screen isn't too big, but I appreciate the advice.

I use a PS3 controller. Left stick to move, Right stick for smashes, X to jump, Square for basic attacks, Triangle for specials, O for smash attacks (almost never used), and R2 for dodge
