Have you played Smash? If so, if you like Link, Peach, Diddy Kong or other item-based characters, you might find Brawlhalla fun. It's free, so you might as well give it a shot. I personally prefer Rivals of Aether, but some people prefer Brawlhalla, and if they do, then who am I to say they're wrong?

Brawlhalla has the word 'Brawl" in it , isn't that a sign good enough to not choose brawlhalla and go for ROA.

Remember that you get waht you pay for more often than not.

Brawlhalla is SUPER casual. If you're the guy that thinks "Oh, Super Smash Bros is a great 4 player party game, I love it!", if you're the guy that plays on Poke Floats and use items, if you're the guy that finds yourself button mashing more often than not... this is the choice for you

Rivals of Aether is... basically Melee. This is the choice if you're the guy looking at tier lists, if you're playing Fox only, no items, Final Destination.

Lol what a joke. This game is a steaming mess. EVEN smash brothers melee is better than this drivel and that's saying a lot.

Uhm... excuse me? Melee is still played today because of how much it's loved. The game is 15+ years old and still at Evo.

I prefer Brawlhalla. It just feels so much better to me. How to put this. To me Brawlhalla has a lot of flow in it's fights. The movement is more satisfying. The air game has a lot more trickery that goes on at least from what I've seen between these two games. While the weapon system does take away from the uniqueness of the characters the signatures of each of the characters I play (I use around 10 or 11 of them usually with weapon overlap) all make me play them differently even when they use the same weapon. I hear accusations that Brawlhalla is much more basic, but personally I think that's where most of the skill in playing it comes from. You and your opponent have mostly the same options in terms of movement and recovery aside from the recovery tricks your weapons give so your knowledge of the game and ability to out fox the opponent are very prominent. I'll be honest I'm probably not giving RoA enough credit for what it does right, but from the majority of the games I've played here just left me unsatisfied and admittedly angry. If I wasnt just wailing on my opponent before they could recover from being launched I was having my moves and attempts to fight back constantly interrupted or rendered moot because of launch stun. Very little of it felt like it was actually my fault when I was being used to paint the blastzone.

I guess that's fair... Brawlhalla is easier to pick up and play. Rivals has a much higher skill cap, making it hard (sometimes frustrating) to learn. I have A TON of experience with Super Smash and admittedly I'm struggling to complete one of the advanced tutorials. In my defense I bought Rivals a few days ago. After you set up your controller and you get used to the movement in Rivals, I think it's a lot more satisfying.

As for Brawlhalla, it is more basic. That's not a bad thing however because the audience it's catering to is more casual.

I know how we can settle this. No items no emojies no form posts no comments no counter-arguements final destination fox only.

The difference is, one game is very good, and the other is very crappy.

I'd say the big thing is probably complexity... This is more like melee where as brawlhalla is just smash 4 but easier imo... another thing is community... In RoA the community is much closer and friendly as far as i know... The weapon system in Brawlhalla puts me off cuz its kinda random from what i know and it can leave you at a disadvantage if you arent able to get it because it spawned closer to the enemy but in RoA its just pure skill no items like it should be

another thing i should mention is this is made for 1v1... there is no 4 player online so if you are looking for a party game with friends online go for brawlhalla...

Which is a damn shame really, I guess it's because of the netcode not being very good?

Tis a shame though would be nice to have 4 player matches with my friends

Different mechanics and character variety

Why ever bother buying a new version of a game (I.E. Brawl or Smash4 when they came out) when you have a previous one?
