but yeah RoA does need some free characters. sure the game is on sale along with the old dlcs but still. we need some new free content that isn't a tutorial for a dlc you can't afford.
As for 'paywalls', its just my opinion but I feel like that term has a lot of particularily negative associations that are not really applicable to how Rivals releases more characters. As far as I know they only intended to release the original 8, with a few stages, story mode, vs, and online. Obviously the game got really popular and people wanted more! The devs have had to hire more people to do better artwork and release the content the people wanted.
Especially in the indie game scene I dont find it unreasonable to have a small pricetag on a well thought out, much desired addition to a game that on its own doesnt even reach 20$.
And that's why Skullgirls was so overrated. Sure, it had over-the-top gameplay and beautiful graphics, but it's gameplay's arguably TOO over-the-top, and with only 8 characters, it got old fast. On RofA, I honestly hope the 2nd guest character isn't human. The all-animal roster is honestly why I love RofA so much, and I feel adding a human will dilute the roster with a character I'll never use. Especially with so many game where humans are the ONLY goodguys, RofA is a breath of fresh air.
I do agree with the whole paywall thing. I personally couldn't care less if we got a freebie. I do not mind paying for new characters, and so far, they have been reasonably priced. Plus, I have a soft spot for helping out small companies by buying their products.
Why not? That's a pretty healthy roster.
Rivals did not have that kind of an image in mind for their game, so all of this new content is really more than they had orignally intended to do.
As for what the guest character may actually be, people scream for cory in the house and rocket car.. but those people are freaks an will not get their way. I think more realistically people are hoping for something like that green animal character with the swords from Dust, an elysian tale (i think thats what it is). I dont think they will put a real human in this game.
I also wish this game continues to release more characters, either in the form of DLC or even as a freebie. Even filthy casuals like me enjoy variaty of characters
