i can't play with workshop characters, help

i install the characters but when i go to the character selection screen it only has the default rivals and the random button, please help

I managed to get it working by changing to "none" restarting steam then changing it back to beta opt in and restarting steam again so see if that works

it still won't work even when the icon is green, i can only use the modded characters in practice mode... and the costom stage i have, just won't apear...

if you want to use them online it has to be a casual match and both players have to agree to the workshop items rule otherwise it's only local play
items you're subscribed to also take time to download and if you don't have good bandwidth it's going to take a while. you also have to leave the game running for them to download

maybe when rivals is currently on it wont work. i tried to go into the beta and it wouldnt let me, i closed rivals and then i was given the beta options

do you have the "workshop" option set to on in the match rules?

There seems to be something relating to the settings. Go to local play, go to versus, and press on your change rules settings. Its on your second to last option.

This no longer should occur because now the base game is the definitive edition meaning all modes are unlocked you get all dlc and workshop is included so no more changing which version of the game you need

Because you don't need the beta anymore, just go into the match settings or however it's called on the top right left of the character select screen and activate workshop mode.

If you own rivals of aether its now the definitive edition so you should be able to use workshop characters

You also get all dlc characters seeing as it's the definitive edition
