Rivals of Aether
is Ori OP?
I know this is a stupid question to ask since Ori was just released but I felt that Ori seemed like a very stong character compared to the roster but i want to know what everyone in general thinks about him. Personally i thought that he is a strong character due to his high mobilty and the ability to to follow up after his up smash.

the one with 3,000 startup frames and tons of lag, which also makes him vulnerable?

The problem with Ori, (At least in my scrub-level experience,) is while he is amazingly fast and powerful, he is also lighter and easier to kill than wrastor/absa and insanely difficult to control.

My first impressions so far.

The Pros:
1. Very fast, Ori's mobility is crazy. She / He? Feels really great to control. I wish Maypul felt similar.
2. Great combo game with the Captain Falcon like back flips to slap people off stage to their death.
3. Dash attack links into basically everything for easy damage. Dash attack is also difficult to parry because it comes in so quick. You can footsie your way in very easily.
4. Solid smash attacks with a lot of range to them.
5. Pretty good edge guard ability.

The Cons:
1. Really terrible recovery. I consider it the main reason she isn't OP at all. Super easy to just keep her off stage because the parachute doesn't give a lot of options. Get ready to get fair'ed to death.
2. Projectiles are weak. I personally don't like it at all and it's not a great option. Anyone can see it coming a mile away.
3. Down air can't be canceled like Wrastor so if you go for dunks off stage and miss you are boned.
4. Down B is really hard to land and it normally doesn't give a lot of reward for landing it. It also uses all your jumps so using it off stage is an all or nothing situation just like the dair.

That's about all I can think of for now. Time will tell. I see her being a balanced addition to the cast.

its just that, he felt very overwelming as a charcter and I felt that he was op

Btw I feel like a complete moron when i said fast frames even though every character in the game has fast frames. lol

Its way to early to say, I've only had a few games with him so far but personally I don't think hes much better than the other characters, feels like a mid tier/bottom of high tier to me

true, after a few more games with Ori, I'm now starting to see his weaknessess. he's definitely not as op as i orginally thought, his recovery is not the best and it leaves him very open to a hard punish

Yeah his recoverys awful. He doesn't seem to have much kill power either, some of the longest Rivals sets I've had have been with him. I also just got a Kragg up to 155% percent and still couldn't kill him but he took all my stocks with only 320% damage haha

his recovery is just fine, if he had any good rising aerials it'd be among the best. his kill power is also just fine, you're using the wrong moves or using the right moves wrong.

When I say that his recovery and kill power is bad I mean in comparison with the rest of the cast, not that it needs to be changed. After playing a few more games as him I'm starting to like his kill power more but he definitely has one of the worst recoverys in the game, it hardly has any height to it and theres not many ways to mix it up

this is a game with no ledge and walljumping, neither of those things make any difference

The games filled with easy spikes though, personally I think Ori will play out like Zetterburn and be really good on stage but get messed up when hes off. We'll have to agree to disagree, its to early to tell how good he is yet anyway
