What happened to the General to envoy perk? :)

Hi, Clarus Victoria. Thank you for this great remaster.

I remember in the original game that you could turn your Generals into Envoys which made Athens turbo boost on envoys or gave Sparta some more versatility. Is that feature now removed altogether or still to come?

By the way, the new balancing works fine as well. I won Athens and Sparta, still have Corinth to finish and yet still on Easy :).

Yeah, we considered allowing players to exchange all the Specialists freely (generals to envoys, scouts to traders, traders to generals etc.) but came around on this idea eventually. It made no sense not to exchange specialists immediately, made the balance a bit wonky.
I feel like now, without this option, players have to play with the cards dealt, and sometimes it may lead to interesting options - like Sparta prefering to unite with Pella for their bonus, or Athens considering raiding smaller cities to finish this one pricy building.
Unused specialists are tempting and I like it more :)

As Athens (on Normal) I saved my first generals until I had three, then conquered a city. That way, they help you win the game, and it does not even cost gold :)

By the way, I also save all my envoys untill you get the tech where they are worth +1 diplomacy bonus, since that doubles thair efficiency.
