RPG Maker 2000

RPG Maker 2000

I can't run a game
Hello.

I have a problem. The program itself works fine, but when I click on "Begin Playtest", my screen goes white, and after a few seconds, I get an error:

"DirectDraw Error (DDR_UNSUPPORTED)"

I have DirectX 11 installed on my PC; It's an Intel Core i7 with an Nvidia Geforce GTX 750.

What am I doing wrong? :)

Thanks in advance!

What OS?

Windows 8.1.

Windows 8.X no longer supports 16 Bit colors natively. A LOT of old games choke on Windows 8.X because it has no DLL to help Direct Draw work out some form of compatability. I remember the sub sim Dangerous Waters crashing for just this reason until someone wrote a DLL to get around this problem. Looks like this version of RPG Maker may need one, too.

You can disable fullscreen for now.

Hm, this problem should have been fixed with this RPG_RT version. Can you make a screenshot of the icon your game window has?

(wow, talk about a late reply)

The newest (as in, the most recent one as of now, not as of your post) version still didn't fix the problem, but disabling fullscreen did. Thanks, CherryDT.

And thanks Schwartzritter, I'll keep in mind that Windows no longer supports 16Bit colors. I legitimately didn't know this.

I am also experienceing this error when test playing a game at full screen in Windows 7. I notice this was supposed to be fixed in version 1.61 of 2k3. Is anybody else still experiencing this error?
