Essence of life Ingredient

Just wondering how you get the essence of life ingredient, I have played through all sorts of ♥♥♥♥ and only gotten 14.

It is the turqoiuse thing that looks like a knife and 20 of is required for the power weapons

If anyone can tell me specifically what drops it or what i need to do to try and farm it I would be extremely greatful

not that this isn't late, and you've probably figured it out by now, but you get this item in the core. It's dropped by certain enemies. How to get to the core is another story.
