What is the purple orb material that is needed to craft the Halloween event items?

I've completed the Halloween event quite a few times and beat Selene once so far and I haven't seen this material drop, but I have all the other materials. Where can I get whatever it is? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I just got the game :P

You can forge them using a shell in the Arcane Forge.

Yes, I recomend heading to the Library, and farming enemies there. Also, petting the Owl enough will skip the merlin fight, while still awarding items and XP, making it arguably better than the main route.
