Game is 100% unplayable because of the black screen issue.
I wanted to check out the update and I loved this game months back when I played it but I went through the forums trying to find a fix and came up dry.
Having to blindly navigate the menu to go into widowed mode.. Trying to alt + enter to enter windowed.. Nothing.

Is the dev still forum active? I really hope so. This game was a pretty cool gem but I can't even play it. Same PC I've always used.

*If there's any info the dev needs from me lmk and I could send a DXDiag or whatever you'd need. It kinda sucks that I can't play it but these things happen :be_good:

I'm having this same issue. Alt + enter gives me a window, but when I set the resolution it's misaligned and not full screen. I tried using the Borderless Gaming app, but the game pretty much bugs out when the window is resized.
First game I've had to set the compatibility mode to Windows 7 before through Properties but that did the trick. Made it fully playable with a controller. Nice (:

I've heard it start working when you set compatibility to Windows 7. (Obviously doesn't matter if you're already on Windows 7 or a different OS). You might get more help for this, though, if you make your own thread(s).

You can also try setting the game's launch settings to windowed in Steam, launch the game, and if it it works, change the settings to windowed then delete the launch setting as it's no longer needed. (-w)

Another thing to try is going to the config file itself (C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\DungeonSouls) and changing the fullscreen setting to 0 (replacing only the 1).

The last two are both assuming that the game being in fullscreen is the problem.

If you do make your own thread, though, please make sure you include information that could help solve your problem, like everything you've tried to fix it and your computer specs.

If what I've mentioned helped to solve your problem, please say so! :rghost:
Try this stuff

Win 7 Compatibility worked for me

Activate vertical-sync and switch to full screen. It happends on other games, not just this one. It might be a problem with an Windows update.
It actually happened with the game Momodora as well. I just used Win7 Compatibility. :p

I am having this problem as well. I start the game and get black screen. I can hear the music, there is no icon in the taskbar and the only way to exit is through task manager. Nothing has changed since I played it last. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have an issue with d subbing and the way I fix it usually is by windowing the game and changing the resolution but for some reason Alt - enter aren't working for me.
