Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition

i bought the first game long ago when it first came out so im not feeling too happy about the idea of throwing money at "definitive editions" to receive the same experience in a pretty dress, but just how bad are the differences/drawbacks of not having the "full collection" ?

cheers and thx for the constructive input, at least it sounds like im not shut out from using half of skill trees and stuff like that and will be able to play co-op freely without being reminded that i should pay for something ive already paid for
