Any reason to play this over Dying Light?

well the theme is more vibrant with the palm trees and stuff but it's very clunky, especially in coop.

Does, but Dead Island is driven by melee weapons as its main game mechanic, not parkour. Devs didn't intented player to avoid the zombies, so they balanced their game fully around killing them in different ways.

I'd say the areas are more vibrant but besides that not really. Dying light is far better specially with combat but these games have a Xbox 360 charm to em

Almost no reason whatsoever except for the fact you have 4 different characters AND you have fury mode, when is actually cool and differs between characters, but other than that, Dying Light (First one) is the one to go for

melee combat is better in Dead Island. The heavy weapons have weight to them and sharp weapons are actually sharp. I love Dying Light 1, but sometimes it feels like you're hitting zombies with a pool noodle in that game lol so Dead Island's melee combat is definitely better.

i disagree, after having replayed riptide, ragdolls feel much better in Dying light which makes melee combat more satisfying overall and the melee combat is less clunky, i was playing last night in coop and i was spamming click with some weapons and barely felt any power, besides the heavier weapons where you knock them around still don't feel as good because they got a lot of HP so might as well end up with a head stomp.

How can someone unironically claim melee is better in Dead Island when it's literally a repeat of the same animations over and over? There's not that many of them, which DL severely upgraded on - different attacks and animations

Its a free game you goobers, maybe DL is the better game, play both if you really care. You would play this one if you want to try it out since its free.
