What's the difference?

I have this game and Dead Island Definitive Edition. And wondering if they are the same game. The store page shows same video trailer and release dates are the same. Have started a play on both and they start the same. Is one just a remaster of the other?

This version has more fighting opportunities when you go back and forth from certain contained areas, it feels more alive, forgive the pun.
I'm definitely having the most fun in this version out of the 3.
I've been playing all 3 of them for the last few weeks.

@ B-o-B; Thanks for info. So other than more fighting, they are the same game? Sounds strange. Just started playing through the "Dead Island Definitive Edition". But am going to switch to this and see if there are any other differences. I do find these games quite therapeutic. Better to beat up dead zombies than the living ones I deal with daily.

Riptide is the continuation of the DIDE story. It is a shorter game, it takes place on another island that contains a series of new maps. You can import the characters you finished the previous game with and also add another playable character and loads of weaponry and mods. That said, the logical order is to play DIDE and then Riptide.
