Joining Multiplayer Crash

I can join another player's game for a few minutes, but I always seem to crash out with the following after a few minutes (Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit):

No one is using a special character in their name, I've already tried two different machines, I reinstalled the C++ libraries from the Dead Island directory and created a new save. Funny thing is, if I host, people can join me just fine and nobody crashes.

You've, most likely, some corrupted windows system files.

The Exception Code 0x40000015 error may be caused by windows files damage. The corrupted system files can and do affect system stability and should be repaired by bringing your system up to date via a restore function.

There can be many events which may have resulted in the system files errors. An incomplete installation, an incomplete uninstall, improper deletion of applications or hardware. It can also be caused if your computer is recovered from a virus or adware/spyware attack or by an improper shutdown of the computer. All the above could result in the deletion or corruption of system files. Corrupted files will lead to missing and erroneously linked data and files needed for the proper use of the program you are linking to.

There are some automated files that may help you repair the files without a full restore. Suggest you do some research before you make a decision.

SFC scan results don't show any integrity violations. I was able to join a different player earlier with no issues so maybe...I dunno.
