Dowsing rod

Am I the only one who hates the dowsing rod system, but loves the rest of the game?

I'm Having trouble with the corks on Waterloo World, so I quess I don't like them, but the game as a whole is pretty good. Then there's the rotating "bridge" in Oleander's mind. Could do with it being a little easier. The first time I got through not too hard, but coming back to it looking for figments seems to have gotten harder. The first time though I was using the keyboard and mouse, now I'm using a controller, but I would think that would make it easier not harder.

Personally I like the dowsing rod system because it is pretty simple to use for me.

It's a love/hate relationship for me. I like being able to get all those arrowheads on one hand, but there are some very frustrating areas that refuse to give up their arrowheads unless you move just a smidge over that I hate. It can be pretty hard to tell especially when you get those certain areas where you can get the rod meter nearly to the top, but it just refuses to get up there no matter how fast you button smash....

Fortunately, I really don't find the need to buy many of the items in the store beyond the cobweb duster, the psy-ball customizer and the eye things for level ups. So, I really only have to go one one thorough arrowhead hunt for the cobweb duster, then I can just run around to all the easy dowsing spots and collect the small amount of arrowheads they give you for the rest of the game.

You guys know how to actually use the dowsing rod effectively without breaking your mouse/keyboard?
