where does janitor teaches more powers

I reached the entrance of the asylum but when i try to enter the guard head it says it wont do much because I need more powers and i have a janitor with a question mark on the right of the screen, where do I go to learn more powers from him?

You can find Ford Cruller in his secret lab. To get there, look for the tree trunk portals scattered around the camp. Jump inside and tell the cart to take you to Ford's sanctuary.

The nearest tree trunk is on the beach near the boathouse.
