When you install Windows 10, the controller will pair with the OS easily, and most games gonna work right away, but some like Psychonauts might not work with gamepad properly. I guess I discovered what to do to make it work (at least using the XOne S controller, not the X360 one).
1) Pair your controller with Windows wirelessly. Let it configure.
2) Download an App called "Xbox Accessories" on Windows Store. Install it. The app will ask for an Xbox controller since even if it's connected via Bluetooth, it won't recognize it. You will need a cable to connect the controller to PC.
3) Connect the controller to PC and let it configure everything again. There you can test the buttons just like in Control Panel and verify the firmware version. Mine was up to date. I don't remember if I've updated it before or if it came updated.
4) Disconnect the controller from pc. You'll see that it won't pair automatically, the light will keep blinking and blinking... You'll need to pair it again via Bluetooth.
5) After the controller is paired, go to "Devices and Printers".
6) For some reason, before configuring the controller through the "Xbox Accessories" app, there was only one option for controllers, listed as "Xbox Controller" or "Xbox Wireless Controller". After configuring it both times, one as Wireless and one as Wired, now another option appeared. The one named "Controller", as stated by OP. On my PC it was grayed out, I don't know why. To make the game work with your gamepad you need to click on it and disable it.
In my case, these steps were needed.
Now it is possible to use your Xbox One S controller via Bluetooth to play Psychonauts. The controls work well for me.
Discovered it today because I wanted to replay it since the sequel will be released next year. Hope it helps (if you couldn't make it work before for some reason).
