Texture Flickering on AMD video cards: PROBLEM SOLVED
I am encountering a problem while playing Psychonauts. The objects appear and disappear as I turn the camera or when I move my character. It happens almost always. Trees, bushes, and other stuff appear and disappear. I don't know the correct technical term, it is probably flickering. Look at the pictures to realize.

Does anyone have the same problem? Do you have solutions?

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED.

This problem occurs on AMD video cards with the latest drivers (all versions after Catalyst 13.12). No need to dowgrade now, here's the solution! Thanks to R.A.Hellord!

Just bought this game (from GoG, not from Steam) but had the same issue on my 7870 HD, I have the 14.4 stable drivers installed and could fix the texture flickering by changing the the AA Method from Multi-Sampling to Adaptive Multi-Sampling.

Haven't encountered any further problems (yet).

So, just open up AMD Catalyst Control Center and change Anti Aliasing to "Adaptive Multi-Sampling" under Game settings.

I had lastest version amd driver on my pc and exprienced this issue. Solution is uninstalling driver and installing 13.9 version. Shortly solution: downgrade driver.. But this solution is not so sad for performance of GPU. I can still play every game which i play recently. It's quite worthy for this dreamy game. ;)

Did you try the solution suggested in the first post about setting the AA Method from Multi-Sampling to Adaptive Multi-Sampling?

i use nvidia geforce and it makes the game not so buggy, lets say amd sucks geforce rules?.

This worked for me:
Along with R.A.Helllord's solution of changing to 'adaptive multisampling' for anti-aliasing method, you might need to set anti-aliasing mode to 'override application settings' and set a value for anti-aliasing samples to a value other than none (ie 12x).

It's probably best if you add these settings for just for Psychonaughts by using the 'add' button under 'application settings' instead of setting these for system settings so it won't affect others games.

Note this is using AMD catalyst software suite version 15.20...

This makes absolutely no sense to me because I tried playing with in-game FSAA disabled too (with no success), but switching the AA settings in Catalyst control center worked (probably unrelated, but I also disabled Surface Format Optimization). No more objects flickering everywhere in the very beginning of the game.

I tried the solution, but to no avail. In fact, it seems like entire pieces of the environment flicker. Like the trees in the campground.

just switching to adaptive Multisampling didn´t work for me either. But when i additionaly set the anti-aliasing-filter to edge detect it works. :happypug:
(Win 10 64 bit, AMD-Driver v.15.30)

I had no idea the default multisampling could be such a problem, and I ended up deleting Lego Jurassic World only halfway through because of some annoying texture flickering issues. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll make sure to try this out.

Fixed it for me. I was getting kinda pissed going through basic braining and having the floating platforms before the net trampolines be invisible for me.

Radeon R9 290, Crimson 16.1, Win 7 64 - textures are still flickering. I tried every option mentioned above and it still didn't help. Any other idea? :)
