windows 10 error with d3dx9_40.dll

I've played Psychonauts for a while now and when all of a sudden my game wouldn't load. I eventually found out the problem was with Direct X but I have no idea how to fix it. Any ideas on how to fix this would help!

try installing the file from the direct x website

[Razputin]

-Go to game installation folder
-Find a file called DXSETUP.exe, usually found in a redist folder
-Run DXSETUP and let it install all directX/DLL files
