i just recently started to play this game again and im stuck. I got to get in the asylum. I looked online and saw i have to get to an island but i dont know how to get to that island

Try exploring around the lake.

You need Linda to carry you there. Go to the boathouse area, look for the giant lungfish tracks on the beach, and look in your inventory for a lungfish skeleton. Get it out and Use it (or Y on the controller) and Linda will come and take you to the island.
