Waterloo World Apple Figments

i'm having a really hard time reaching the apple figments in the waterloo world orchard, where you have the hunt the snails for escargo. i can see the figments but no matter how close i get to some of the apples, it won't hit? there are also several bird figments that i can't get high enough to reach for the life of me. is there some special technique to grabbing these ones that i just don't know?

NEVERMIND HOLY HECK

okay so in case anyone else didn't know this, i found out on accident but apparently if you punch the little orangey fence things between the trees, the figments will fall out of the trees on to the ground. this is so clever. i hate it. anyways nevermind problem solved
