Psychonauts wont launch!

I press play game, it says "running" for a few secconds, then "syncing" for a fraction of a second and then nothing happens. Dont know if this is a problem with the game or my computer. I got it for free from humble bundle

Update; reinstalled, didnt work. Tried verifying game files but right at the end it says 1 file coulfnt verify. Wth?!

*raises hand* Me too, also from HB. No error message, just doesn't finish launching. Just reinstalled Steam, now I'm reinstalling the game, and keeping my fingers crossed.

This happens to me as well, it says that I am plaing it but nothing appears on my screen or in task amanger. Tried restarting steam and my computer, same thing happens. HELP! PLEASE!

i found a solution.
1. run the game in compatibility(WINDOWS XP service pack 2). to do this, select browse local files in properties.
2. run the game. If you get the 0xc00007bc (or something) error, download and place xinput1_1, xinput1_2, xinput1_3, xinput1_4 and xinput9_1_0 (these are dll files) to wherever the game exe is located.
3. open the game and have fun!

Doesn't work for me, unfortunately. That is indeed the error code am now getting, minus the "c".

I have the same problem too, but i thing ive found something. My download is stuck with psychonauts needing an update but wont download. It says it cant update because of a locked file. For me it says that C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Psychonauts\Documents\EULAs is the problem.

I'm having this same problem. Customer service talked to me for a little bit (to no avail) then suddenly ceased communication a month ago. So I'm still stuck with an unlaunchable game.

It did this for me once, then about a week later failed to launch again, despite nothing changing between then.

I had this problem, but uninstalling, restarting, then reinstalling worked for me.

I've tried everything at this point and the game still doesn't launch. It's been almost half a year since I've been able to open the game, and despite emailing DF Support twice, I've yet to get any help.

Yup... tried the solution up there, tried reinstalling several times, running in every different compatbility mode available, but it just won't work. Guess I'll try it on a different platform.
