People still complain about that section.
Of course, I cannot say whether it's different from PS2 or XBox, since I never had those.
Yet I found it really easy and I suspect some kind of patch probably took it down a notch.
There's one jump I had trouble making, but it seems that you do not even need to make it as if you fall on the safety net you are brought to the platform you had to reach instead of the one you were on. The safety net and the generous timer were hardly an issue too, if it was one of those cruel platformers you would fall to the ground and have to climb back up with a huge hit to the timer.
It may be a controller/keyboard type of thing as very often people whine about how keyboard is really hard to use. That came up a lot on the Jet Set Radio discussions where the common complaint was how to replicate rotating the control stick CW/CCW you had to enter S,A,W,D or S,D,W,A really fast and without misclicking while also focusing on what other inputs the game tells you to do in the minigame. Since at times you had to do like two to three rotations back to back I can see why people found it tough, although I cannot really come to their defense regarding Psychonauts as there wasn't anything remotely close to that level of division between the two.
If it is a patch thing then anyone who knows more please tell me the version where meat circus was not nerfed and I could go ahead and try it out, as at the current state it is hardly an issue.
If anything should've been patched, it should have been that jump near the end of Waterloo World, the one between the roof of the barn and the climbable wall of the tower. That drove me completely nuts.
So, all in all, not the hardest thing in the world. It feels a little extraneous at first, but it definitely plays into a great ending.
I did finally beat it on PS2, but to me the words "meat circus" still get mentally prefixed with words that would be censored here.
