Using items on non-party characters?
Maybe I'm missing something, but there doesn't seem to be any way of targeting usable items on enemy units.

When choosing who/ what gets a potion, pheonix down, or a certain someone's dried meat the up/ down buttons go through a list of party members, the left/ right buttons change which party member you're inputting actions for, and the other buttons do nothing. I get that in the touch-screen version this is a port of you could target anything onscreen with a tap, but since the systems that this version is realeased to don't have touch screens...

This is both critical to plot advancement and specifically mentioned in-game as an option (healing items vs. undead) but as far as I can tell it can't be done. I never bothered trying out the old Train trick, so the first time I noticed this issue is now that I'm unable to advance the plot because I can't give Granny's Ole' Fashioned Dried Veldt Meat (TM) to anyone except Sabin or Cyan...

I found a workaround for the naming issue by temporarially setting the accept button to LShift, and I'm finally getting used to inputting Blitzs with an extra (and unnessecary) hit of accept just so an "accept?" button can light up and slow things down, but there is no way to get used to or find a workaround for what basic input/ menu options have been scripted into the game.

Please tell me I'm missing some obvious little button combination here...

on my gamepad, I press the "Y" button. It is the top button of the 4 on a gamepad. For the keyboard, it is X
