Yeah, it doesn't look as good as the tabs one, but you can switch between characters faster (actually faster than you can in any other versoin to date) and it's only distracting for the first few min while you learn the interface.
I would use that UI if the icons were smaller with less blue space, the scroll bars for that kind of menu is quite bothersome and unnecessary.
Hopefully someone figures out a way to apply that kind of UI change to the party menu UI because with all the blue space, there really is no need for a scroll bar.
it's not intrusive takes minimal space and is clear with it's information.
It really is an innovative design feature.
I would have to agree if they replaced the rising menu with those tabs and changed the size of the UI menu items it would make for one of the best battle UI designs in menu-based Final Fantasies thus far.
That's one of the reasons I switched back. It used to be 'Y' on the SNES (left face button) but that's used for autobattle now.
They made a "switch character" button on the tabs configuration that looks like two arrows circling around and pointing towards each-other. AFAI could tell there's no hotkey, when there really should be.
