Oh the Chocobo is the key. Thanks, I will try that once I get back to Nikeah.
...later on.
I just bought a chocobo at South Figario which is below Nikeah and I, so far, cannot travel east but I will keep trying.
------------------
Nope, isn't working and I sat and tried for a while. Does this work in this version of the game and has anyone else tried this yet to see if this is a fluke or if it is just me having this problem? I really wish I could just take the ship back but I cannot and that is rather dumb that you can't. Also, why is there absolutely no way to just call the Airship or warp to it is beyond me.
2. Get on the boat.
3. This boat will take you to Nikeah.
4. Get a Chocobo in Nikeah.
5. Ride it east across the many peninsulas that are connected by bridges in places.
6. Go across Doma Country, south, through the Phantom Forest, to a mountain path that is Baren Falls.
7. Jump off Baren Falls.
8. You are now in the Veldt, and back where you (hopefully) left your Airship.
If you don't know where you left your Airship, you should be able to find a marker on the map that tells you its location. It is somewhere on the Veldt, I think.
Please let me know if this helps.
I guess that information would be highly helpful, it is in the Veldt.

Update:
I FINALLY found the airship and got to it. I parked it on the other side of the Spooky Forest after Doma and it was a real pain to get back to. Thanks everyone for all your help and I just hope the dance was worth it. I did take characters that I never play as my secondaries so I did "earn" a bunch of spells being learned but the x1 points at best really did feel like a grind.
:D I wish I could play games like that again, I used to
Actually, not so.
You can walk to Nikeah from where the Lethe River lets out, and just take a boat back to S. Figaro.
Only if you want to double your trip..
DO NOT TAKE THE BOAT!!!! Get yourself a chocobo, go back to baron falls. Go through the dungeon, back to the airship
If you follow Spoon, and many other advice. You will just have a giant headache
The Chocobo goes right through the Phantom Forest as you go to Baron Falls which leads to the Veldt.
