Intangir
WELL that was a nice surprise finding out vanish/doom doesn't work anymore! I've gotta wait now to test this until I level a few more times but here's my thought. Step 1: make sure everyone has about 1100+ HP. Then I gotta test and see if Stop is still effective. He's immune to all elements so that's a no go but Gau and Stray Cat will be key after you hit him with something to make him visible. Chainsaw would be a good damage dealer, as would most non-elemental blitzs. I also ponder if Cyan's Tiger would help but my hunch is no as death isn't a viable option against him. When Intangir hits with Meteo(r?) heal up and repeat. Hope that helps and yeah gotta test some more theories out too. ;) But input welcome!

Stop is very effective. Ultima Weapon + Sniper eye after you get a stop on him is pretty good, probably not the best or fastest but it works.

Stop works.

It is highly recommended you use defense ignoring attacks (like Sabin's Raging Fist) as Intangir has auto-protect and auto-shell. (and in this game they have no effect on attacks that ignore defense)

And honestly you could probably get away with ~900-1000 HP.

And try having Relm and Strago in your party at the same time, as one of Intangir's Sketch attacks is Traveler. (with normally can't be learned until some time into WoR)

Awesome I used to always just Magic grind right after getting Terra back but I'm gonna just wait to prior to heading up to the floating continent ;)

I don't remember where in the game you are but Edgar's drill also ignores armor.

It's honestly not worth the effort to kill the Intangir anymore. You may get a Bestiary entry or something but that only takes one kill if I'm not mistaken.

I just skipped it and moved on. I am a busy mage!

You have to kill him for the entry. But it is no longer worth it to farm him for AP like in the snes days. Kill him in 2 hits and get 10 ap was pretty nice back then.

Yeah it sucks they removed the whole Vanish/Banish and Doom tricks in later versions of the game. I ended up using Sabin's Raging Fist and Edgar's Drill for massive damage while having one of my characters cast Stop. Still hit me with meteor on occassion though.

I ended up bumping into Intangir on the Veldt again after I had fled the initial encounter. It took a while because I was Rage/Lore grinding so I only had Mog, Relm, and Strago. Took him down with a lot of sketching for Traveler and some Earth Blues dancing and got it that way. Not worthwhile for Magic Grinding alas, but makes things interesting! :)

^^

Shame his rage sucks. (Vanish + Absorption for a lot of elements, but the special is Transfusion which'll kill AND eject Gau in order to fully heal someone else, suffice to say not good when used at random; and really Transfusion's not that good outside of extreme emergencies anyway)

So very very true! Oh well add it to the collection and all that ;D

Use Stop. You only really want to fight him once now, with Strago/Relm on your team, so that you can get the Blue Magic.

I'd also like to add something to this discussion that some may already know, but I am pretty certain that while Intangir is invisible, he's also asleep and as such will NOT USE ANY ACTION. Until you finally wake him up, that is. So if your strategy revolves around party buffing before you go for an attack run, well.... you're safe on that front.

Don't bother with Protect and Shell though, as stated before since Meteor ignores defense it'll ignore Protect and Shell.

Setzer's slots can one shot it if you match 3 7's.

Strago can learn it from Gau, however.
