Getting Mog

Hey, so I went to Narshe and chased the thief up to where the esper is, he tells me not to come closer and when I back away nothing happens, Mog is supposed to get up and knock them off the cliff so I can get him in my party... I went all the way out of Narshe and back up there and still the same thing, am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch??

Well I tried it again, maybe I was just in too much of a rush because I sat there for a bit and then he got up.... All is well!

That's actually the way to do it, you simply stop moving and wait for a moment.
