I see nothing here that justifies the shameless overpricing of these titles - and I'm a Final Fantasy (up to but not including FF8) super freak.
Looks like SE must have picked up some Betathesda people who couldn't resist going with the Skyrim model.
I thought they were out of the summer sale everywhere. Certainly not on sale in the EU either, would have bought now at the usual 50% off.
I will probably buy it because FFVI, in general, warrants multiple playthroughs, and I appreciate version differences in games, so I want this version available later. I'll get the new collection too at some point.
Detailed enemy sprites, detailed backgrounds, additional content and dungeons, bestiary...
A lot of points.
I guess Haters of this version have spread tons of misinformation.
Four new espers and two post game dungeons were added in the GBA version and the IOS/Steam version had them as well.
Sweet, thanks.
Anyway, is Green Man Gaming currently the best place to buy this, V and III? It's like 10% off there right now.
The description already tells you that they cleaned up the game, revamped the menu/inventory system, and updated the music using the original composer. I forget what else.
The problem here is the price. Even if you clean it up, charging something like 20 dollars for each game is a bit much.
The Pixel Remastered versions of Final Fantasy 1, 2 and 3 will be launching on Steam on July 28th while 4, 5 and 6 will be released at a later date.
I agree with everything you've said here. I first played FFVI (3) about 25 years ago and I was absolutely thrilled with how good the mobile sprites and artwork looked, especially the enemy sprites. It's bizarre to me they're downgrading the graphics and removing content and calling it the "new remastered" version.
Can anyone imagine SaGa Frontier being re-released but without the cut content just to be more faithful to the original release?
