game crash

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Im at the point just after the maduin/ esper world flashback and the game keeps crashing once we are back on the airship. From what I can gather from other forums this is because I left Gau on the Veldt and the game crashes while looking for an additional character.

I have no savesfiles before the Opera house to go back so I'm stuck. If anyone knows a way to import another save file or anything it would be a great help. I really enjoy the game but do not want to do 20 hrs of content again.

I have this exact same problem but I do have Gau, but I did not get Shadow the second time in Kohlengen or Jidoor wherever he was before Zozo.

Mine is currently crashing at this exact point too. Gau is in my party.

Mine is crashing just after getting Mog from Narshe. I go into the menu to remove one of the party and the party disappears from the screen + 1 of them suddenly gets loads of bad statuses

Are you serious? I also got this bug. I never take Gau in my party, I left him in Narshe I think, alongside Cyan.
I don't have any savefiles before the opera house either, this is a game-breaking bug, that apparently also happened on GBA, and they've never fixed it?
I'm not replaying 15 hours of this game, I'll just watch the rest on YouTube or something, but this is incredibly disappointing.

Mine crashed in the world of ruin when you find Terra. This game is broken and shouldn't have been sold in this condition. The fact that square doesn't car to do anything about it is sad.
