Although I always used Cyan as the main damage-dealer.
As for dealing damage, you should look into using Gau if he learned the Stray Cat rage in the Veldt. It's insanely broken in the first half of the game with Cat Scratch and Fire 2 both dealing a great amount of damage. If not, then Sabin on a Magic build with two Earrings can cut through anything with Aura Bolt up until you learn Bum Rush (or whatever they changed the final Blitz' name to). Edgar also continues to be great with Bio Blaster and the upcoming Chainsaw tool, even though Auto-Crossbow begins to drop off in usefulness at this point. Cyan trails behind, but at least gets a buff in this version of the game as you can charge up his Bushido while selecting commands for other characters.
I tried the usual method of getting it, and I got the Gauntlet instead. I figured it was changed in this version. Did I do it wrong?
There are three non-stealable Genji Gloves in the game:
- Say 'No' to Banon 3 times outside of the Returner's Hideout.
- Find one in the Cave to the Sealed Gate.
- Find one in Cyan's Dream.
Well My suggestion is use shadow give shadow two thief knives and you end up with a better thief than locke. If you give him the offering or what ever they changed the name to in this you will be able to mug up to 4 times on any target. Just my thoughts on it. As far as locke is concerned you have a couple build choices to go with. If you go gauntlet you should give him weapons like fullmoon and such to max out the damage. you can also give him the relic to change steel to capture. The other option is to choose the gigas glove and offering and do like i suggested with shadow with locke. Third is to choose neither the gigas glove or gauntlet. And then give him a merit award or its renamed version. Then load him with the best gear options you have to offer him. this will turn him into a strong fighter instead of a thief.
Why are you giving him gear options for 20 hours later in the game? Shadow is never going to be a better thief than Locke, even with that gear, which again isn't open the the poster until much later in the game. Same with the merit award.
And you couldn't really at that point in the game if you wanted to. This answer is bonkers.
