"Save data is corrupted. Data will be deleted and intialized"

Is there any way to get my save game data back after this message? My computer crashed and when I relaunched FFVI I got this message and now all my save games are gone. 38 hours of gameplay and I'm at a loss.

Do you have any backups? You could try to see if you have any "previous versions" when you right click the file, though I don't know if the shadow copy service woud catch it.

Also, if you have system restore that might do it too if it catches the bizarre Steam folder. Just make sure to copy the game data out before launching Seam or it might re-download the corrupted/erased file.
