Switching between characters in combat?

Are we stuck with the menu command to switch between characters, or is there a key?

With the default layout you can hit left/right to switch directly between their menus. I'd have to look into it as far as the other menu style. After initially condemning the game's default menus eventually it reminded me of Chrono Trigger and I actually could choose which character to take action with more easily than in the original. (Giant buttons aside.)

I can look into it further if I remember to later, but it's definitely a simple matter with the default menu layout.

The default menu is horrible, the tableft or tabright is workable. Except as stated above.

Did you try the default menu for a time? I hated it at first too. It's a shame if the alternative is harder to control.
