First Boss Fight, Runaway Bug?

I go in to fight the snail, I cast a few spells, and suddenly everyone is running away. No other actions are working. Restarted, same thing happened during my second attempt to fight it. What do?

There is a button you can press to cause that to happen. It's a toggle. If you hit it once, you need to hit it again to make them stop.

Thank you! I hit the Shift key and they stopped... however, the game stopped responding after about 30 minutes. T^T
