Grinding question
Any need to grind if you find a decent area, or are there enough end game opportunities for good XP/AP? Currently sunk about 8 hours into the isle north of Crescent, would like to know if it'd be smart to knock the rest of the classes out now or wait later.

There are a couple of grind spots (EXP and ABP) later on in the game, so you shouldn't need to invest more time killing The Dark flame enemies. There should be a spot in the final dungeon where you can easily grind Jobs so I reccomend you wait til then (unless SE is D-bags and nerfed the monsters that you grind off)

Last floor of the Rift is the best place to grind ABP since the mobs drop 30 ABP on average, and you once in a while get the Movers which drop 199 ABP. Sadly the mobs there don't give exp, otherwise it'd be the best place to train in the game, period. For exp, I recommend either the most south-western point of the third world till you unlock the Sealed Temple.

They thankfully didn't nerf it but they made it so the quicksave trick doesn't work, so you can't just get Movers every other encounter.

Play the game normally, when you get to the end or Phoenix Tower, grind then. PT contains Magic Pots, which if you follow the hint they give you at the start of battle, can give you 100 AP an encounter without even really having to fight.

A hint if you find movers: Be quick about it and kill them or the battle will just 'end'. (they won't escape or anything, the battle just prematurely ends and you get nothing) They also have access to a VERY nasty attack that kills a party member and removes the target from the field. (so no reviving, and no AP for that party member after the battle)

As an extra perk though, each individual mover will give enough Gil for a Coral Ring. Trust me, you're REALLY gonna want 4 of them. (you can find one later in the game so you'll only need to buy 3)

Excellent, thank you all for the replies, good to know I can safely move on from this island finally lol.

Final tally: 9 classes mastered for all 4, 30 levels gained, and 2mil gil acquired. Not too shabby for a "small" detour.

As far as i know the only attacks they have is delta attack and their regular attack, am i missing something from the IOs/mobile version perhaps? because if that's it then petrification is the only problem you'll have to deal with.

You're going to regret those levels if you haven't gotten any of the Level blue magics yet.

Kind of why grinding is a bad idea. Though there are a few places you need to force grind to appropriate levels to get those magics. For instance at the Ancient Library, make sure your Blue Mage / Learner is a multiple of 5 and everyone else isn't. Face any Blue Demon head in the books, when it pops up, put everyone on guard until it casts Level 5 Death. It'll kill the learner (and you can learn something even if you die from it).

You can guarantee a spawn of the Demon Head on the roof of the library, where there's one posessed book just waiting for you.
If there are any more than Lvl 4 Grav and Lvl 5 Death, a heads up would be nice, but I got those two already.

There's lvl 3 flare and lvl 2 old.
Ah, thankfully multiples of 2 and 3 won't be too bad to catch up to, glad I lucked into the harder of the two.

Thanks for the heads up.

I know that people can play how they like, but I just beat the final boss at 36, and two of the superbosses at 37.

You've made the game laughably easy until the post game content now.

You are not wrong. I only really committed to it since I've never really grinded a game like this before. Not counting Disc 1 card grinding in FFVIII, that is.

Will probably not do this again, though, for the exact reason you mentioned. Everything after has been a little boring, for sure.

It's more understandable in FF5 really, as much as I tried avoiding the trap of grinding, mastering jobs just gives you options that makes the game more fun in ways.

If you're ever to play the game again, I'd suggest ignoring the ABP grind until you get to world 2, because there's enemies that give you good ABP but really low EXP.

The post game content is still pretty tough, and the last boss is too, if you go in unprepared.
