Level up, get more abilities, and try again later.
From what I remember, if you want to make this easier, you'll need a Chemist or the Mix ability, and the Blue Magics Dark Shock, Lv2 Old, and Lv5 Death. (names may be different in this version as I haven't fully played through it, but Dark Shock is the spell that cuts an enemy's level in half)
1. Mix a Maiden's Kiss and Holy Water/Revivify and use the item on Exdeath (I believe it is called Blessed Kiss or something similar). This will put him into a Berserk state and prevent him from transforming into his 2nd phase (from what I've seen). If it fails, go to step 2a until you can get the Blessed Kiss on him.
2. Attempt to cast Dark Shock on Exdeath.
2a. If it fails, Mix a Holy Water and Antidote (Samon's Might) onto the person casting Dark Shock, it should help increase the chances as the caster's level will increase).
3. When Dark Shock hits, cast Lv2 Old. This will slowly decrease Exdeath's level.
4. Cast Lv5 Death. If Exdeath's level gets to be within the range, it will kill him.
5. If everything went well, that should be it and you shouldn't have to worry about the Neo-Exdeath fight.
If for some reason you don't have all those Blue Magic spells, you're just going to have to hit him with everything you've got after completing step 1. Beware though that Blessed Kiss also grants Haste and Blink.
Yeah, he's underleveled by normal means, but the game is possible to beat with everybody in their low teens for a level.
I have just managed to beat him.
My party was;
Freelancer - Gil toss - Throw
Freelancer - Gill toss - HP +30%
WHM - Summon
WHM - Time
Had everyone in white robes (to help against his magic spells)
Freelancers were dual wielding (although that really didn't matter, it seems)
The start of the fight I had my WHM/TIME cast haste 2 then both of my WHM's went and cast protect and shell on each party member (in between heals)
My freelancers were doing the damage in the first part of the fight, just hitting withh normal attacks.
NEO EX DEATH:
Essentially I just did a gil toss spam and my WHM / SMN cast Leviathan whenever a heal wasn't necessary.
Had a few close calls but 0 deaths.
I think due to my party being in white robes the Freelancers dodged a lot of the physical attacks
Meteor turned into a joke due to shell
The vacuum spell didn't hit too hard
Gil Toss spam is definitely a good way to do it, although this was probably my 15th attempt or so at the battle.
Thanks again guys, good luck!
Yes, but that's for people who know what they're doing. That's for people looking for a challenge and know how to abuse the job system to make up for a lack of level using specific abilities to make themselves brokenly powerful.
For the average player, level 46 is extremely underleveled.
Just spam Thundara and you'll win.
Being level 46 at the end game didn't make me feel that I was underlevelled, especially not extremely underlevelled.
It was only EX Death that gave me major trouble.
I did try to grind out a few levels, however the XP gain is excruciating - The amount of XP needed vs the amount of XP gained per battle meant it would probably take a few hours to get from 46-50, plus it would mean backtracking from the dungeon to a different place that gave decent XP within a decent amount of time.
That is massive overkill for that point in the game. I've just beaten Atomos and I'm only 26, and I already feel like it's too easy at this point.
I don't get people who grind out extensively this early, it's unnecessary and removes all the challenge from the game.
Grind for the superbosses sure, but for the main story? lol.
Also past level 40 grinding for EXP is actually fairly hard since you need 20K exp + for each level, going up to around 30K near 47-48. And most of the enemies pre sealed temple don't offer too much EXP
