it is a very spesific area on the sea. what you want to do is sail forth and back from left to right near the peninsula that is "over" walse tower. Give me a moment and I'll link you a map for it. Here you go:

The green area is the only place the stingray will appear at.

It is a rare encounter only 6% chance, so patience :D

P.S. If you think that's is hard, try to get Dragon's Whisker from it here ... a bird just whispered that you have like 1/256 chance (for each encounter) :steammocking:

Heh, guess I got lucky to get it to drop on my first go then. ;)

I was dreading Stingray. But it popped on about the 4th formation where the guide said it would.

Can't for the life of me find the Istory Lythos formation now though :/

You can encounter them in the area of regole or istory.

Ah yeah [Thank You]
You know what I was doing wrong? Looking in the sea instead of on land lol. The guide didn't make it quite clear where the formations were. Just said near Istory area.

It all became clear when I looked up the encounter map after 10 minutes of not finding it.

Very lucky indeed ^_^ I got my first whip on my 3rd encounter, but don't ask me how much time I spend for the 2nd :D

Anyway, if you are patient try to get 2 whips, your beastmaster will become essential party member. Whips do same dmg from back row and have 50% chance to paralyze ... with Dual-Handed you will paralyze pretty much each turn and you will do decent dmg ... very useful against mobs with Counter. Besides its called 'Dragon' for a reason - it does 2x dmg vs dragon type.

P.S. @[NoDa] Sergio while you hunt Stingrays try to steal some Rune Blade ... thats another great weapon if you know how to utilize it :steamhappy:

Just as an fyi to anyone reading, critical hits are pretty rare in this game, limited to, in most cases, only a couple weapon classes (katanas and fists), although there are some weapons that can crit via special methods. (against specific enemy types, using a small amount of MP per attack, such as with the Rune Blade, and the Yoichi's Bow has a pretty high 30% crit chance) To make up for that, not only do critical hits deal 2x damage, they IGNORE defense.

Spell is over-rated anyway, never even bothered getting it and still made it through game no problem. It's been my experience that when you get to some of the tougher boss fights you aren't going to want to take up one of your ability slots with blue magic. White magic, summon, dual-cast is all you need. If you aren't worried about when you get stingray, there's also one that spawns in the sealed temple, spawn rate seems like it'll be a little higher than what it is on the penninsula also

Mighty guard is probably one of THE best support spells in the game, protect + shell + float in one spell is actually very nice, and blue magic can be very useful, especially if you run full reflect setups. The main game is however still fairly easy without it but that's more to do with bosses being almost pushovers if you know how to optimize against them (some of them are very easy to counter, like reflect ring + pre float against catastrophe, he will never touch you again). Since i always run 2 mimes with duo cast White/Black, Time summon I tend to make my 3rd character have Blue/mix with bartz being my spellblade/rapid fire guy unless a boss calls for something else. Also white magic/summon probably won't get you that far in the sealed temple, considering Neo shinryu absorbs holy and can potentially just "evade" multi hit attacks, meanwhile Omega MK 2 will spam rocket punch/mustard bomb/ encircle twice every time you hit him with something, barrier change if weakness was hit.

Dude you dont know what are you talking ... the spell cast 3 spell to all chars in one turn. Now you tell me how many turns you will need to get same effect trough 1 caster with dualcast???
I'm not even comment your statement on Blue ... you have missed so much of the fun in FFV:
- Goblin Punch - one of the most useful 'spell' in World 1 - 0MP + Back Row OK
- Level 5 Death against Objet d'Art Castle Bal - World 2 the best spot to grind
- ??? against Gil Turtle, check my video
- Time Slip - for stealing rare items
- Dark Sprak/Off-Guard - for debuffs
- Missile - for easy capture
- White Wind - its possible to heal MUCH more then Curaga especially on higher level
...
I can write a lot for each one ... but that should be enough to paint a clear picture: how much you miss if you dont use it :steammocking:
