I can't use my controller?
I have a Logitech Dual Action controller and it works fine for every game except FF5. The game doesn't even acclowledge that it's connected! Why?

Game doesn't support DirectInput. An XInput controller (such as a XBox 360 or XBox One controller, or Logitech F310) or XInput wrapper is required.

My steam controller and xbox 360 controller wasn't working (as with Steam Overlay), but using this method I was able to get both controllers and steam overlay working again:

go to the Final Fantasy V folder and rename "opengl.dll" to "opengl.dll.bak".

Might be different than yours, but my file was named "opengl32.dll", and changed it to "opengl32.dll.bak".

Hope that helps some of you!

turn it on before you open the launcher, it acts funky if you do it after that. Other than that no idea since I use xbox 360 controller for all my casual gaming

I used the Logitech Gaming Software to program a game profile to my controller. I found the launch file in the FFV Steam file folder (Name the Profile something else besides "New Game" otherwise it will not accept the launch file you've selected), then I programmed each button with the keyboard buttons.

Easily solution to this problem: Steam should stop making Steam Controllers XInput compatible and use its market power to crush XInput by requiring that games published to Steam either use an API that does not give Microsoft quasi-monopoly on controllers and controller designs or not have controller support at all.

Steam stopped making Steam Controllers, period. They've been discontinued. But yeah, xinput is more trouble than it's worth, and Microsoft are crazy to still be expecting it to catch on.

The the only controllers worth using have a selector switch on the back anyway.

Hello. I have the Logitech Wireless Gamepad F-710 ; I have tried using it in both , X-Input and Direct-Input modes and regardless FFV won't work with it. I am a little upset and surprised that any FF game won't work with a controller. Hopefully we can get a fix for it in a timely manner.

If all else fails, map to the keyboard. Either with the native Steam big picture controller menu or something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgX-pDXlF5Q

I've been using an F710 for years. It works great for pretty much everything, although Windows 10 driver support is spotty.
