Question about the Super Famicom version
I want to get a Super Famicom version of Final Fantasy V and was wondering how much of the game is in english. While the game was Japan exclusive I know that many Japanese games had english text in them.

Can someone let me know how much of the original version of Final Fantasy V is in english or if it has an option for english?

Judging by the Wikis, most is in Japanese entirely.

The game itself is in Japanese, but I remember a Youtuber named HCBailley who did a playthrough of the game in SNES and it was in English. I'm sure there is probably something online that's in English, but I like the Advance version more, and this one is more or less the GBA version with the Updated/Downgraded Graphics (depending on your opinion). You can probably find what HCBailley did on Episode 1 of the playthrough because this is probably a question that was asked 500 times as well.

I owned the SFC version of FFV. All dialogue and menus were Japanese.

Everything is Japanese, but you can find English fan translation ROMs.

It's all Japanese. There is no English SNES cartridge. Youtubers are probably using illegal emulation/roms. The legal way to do this is to buy the Japanese cartridge, copy the ROM to your computer, and apply the English fan translation patch. From there you can play it legally on your computer, since it is legal to create a backup copy for personal use.

To get the ROM back onto a cartridge is more difficult. You can find guides on how to do this online, but the basic idea is buying a kit that includes a new circuit board you can write your new ROM onto. After, you can put the circuit board into a SNES cartridge to play as expected. Depending on how the security is, it might only work on a Super Famicon, not the American SNES. There are probably ways around this though.

This is all legal to do, but it does take time and money. Only the most dedicated fans will go this far. I say go for it if you want your own personal collection of classic games in physical form. If you just want to play the game, it's available here and many other places. You won't get the same "authentic" experience, but it's pretty much the same game.

Not entirely true.

You can download the japanese version, and the emulator, legally from here; archive.org
Archive.org is techincally a library, and they do have the Japanese version of FF VI in the ROM collection for SNES, included modded versions and most likely translated versions.
