battle system too fast. is it just me?

i've played these games forever so usually i bump up the speed with other titles, but this game seems absurdly fast. even on speed 1 with wait mode i find myself making mistakes because i have to constantly race to the correct part of the battle menu so i dont get wiped. is this the game itself or a bug or what?

ex: if im facing a single enemy without an input they would get an attack approximately every 2 seconds, which isnt long at all especially considering how hard they hit.

Uh that's what battle speed 1 does for you, it speeds up the ATB to the fastest, both for you and enemies. might wanna try use battle speed 2/3 to slow it down a tad.

yeah that was it, I feel a bit silly not having tried that before, but it seems pretty unintuitive to increase a number to slow the system down -_-.
