My fight went like this.
Turn 1. human form, hit with blizzarra
Turn 2. hand form, hit with physical attack (moonring from a thief)
Turn 3. tornado form, just waited until he had expelled all his mana on healing himself while casting fira on himself, then hit him with shiva.
From that point on, I hit him with blizarra spellblade in human form, with moonring attack in hand form and it was over.
Think I missed... once maybe?
Anyway I recommend you learn EVERY blue magic spell whenever you can. Blue magic is awesome) Aqua breath completely trashes some bosses,White Wind for insane healing, Lvl 5 Death allow you to farm AP from Objet de Art with no effort nor requirments, Big Guard gives everyone Protect+Shell+Float and more) ???? is good for 100% accuracy fixed damage, Aeroga, Level 3 Flare, 1000 Needles... Learning everything asap will make your life easier, trust me)
P.S. Death Claw!
Dark Spark is just a shortcut to so you do not have to grind levels as much. Instead of having to reach Lv-27 to learn Level-3 Flare. For example you can learn it while being Lv-25 and use Dark Spark to become Lv-12 (multiple of 3).
Try to learn the four types of Level-spells before you reach Lv-99. Since Dark Spark would only reduce it to Lv-49 which won't help you learn the spells.
You need to keep in mind however, Lvl5. Death that is really nice for grinding AP about midway into the game, but for that you only really need to learn 1 spell and never touch blue magic again.
Death Claw is awesome is if you like to use the beastmaster class, it makes it really easy to catch monsters. It can be replaced with time magic though for similar results in that particular regard.
Big guard gives you all the relevant buffs to deal with some of the boss fights, but you can compensate with levelgrinding and still do it.
White Wind is one of the few ways to heal while under undead status (necormancer job or bone mail).
RapidFire is more for single-target in a freelancer setup. Each swing randomly targets an enemy. It needs good weapons and that costs plenty of Gil. To master both RapidFire and DualWield on a single character is a big ap grind in itself. If you want to grind for it then sure.
Physical and magic are good. It just depends on the area.
1) "If you see it" (how are you supposed to know its blue magic without looking at a guide 24/7?)
2) "if you miss it then next battle equip learning and try for it".
to me both of these are just an annoying way to play the game if you are "maining" other classes. it means you have to consult a guide at every moment, and in every dungeon you have to stop and stand around with a skill on you don't wanna use until an enemy uses a move from the guide. Just isn't fun to me.
